Leading up to key home games this Friday night, Jan. 29, the Mount Shasta High School basketball teams had a Wednesday night bye, then a cancellation because of the heavy snow storm of January 2010, which took down trees and limbs, knocked out power and made travel difficult for several days.

Then, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, the Bears split with Weed in Mount Shasta, the girls winning 38-27, while the boys lost a heart-breaker, 48-47.

Friday's rematches with Fall River are big for both teams. Mount Shasta's girls (4-1 in league) lost by 2 in the league opener at Fall River (6-0) and the Mount Shasta boys (3-2) lost by 3 to the Bulldogs (5-1).

Both Mount Shasta teams faced little resistance on the night of Jan. 15, 2010 during SCL victories over Burney. The photos in this gallery tell some of that story.
