The Mount Shasta High School beginning drama class is busy rehearsing for a production of "Coney Island of Dr. Moreau."

Described as a "cheesy musical" by director Sue Villarreal, the play is a musical comedy satire about the mad scientist, Dr. Moreau, who is conducting experiments on an island to turn animals into humans. Unfortunately, the animals decide they want their freedom.

"This is a beginner production. The majority of these students have never been on stage before," Villarreal said.

The play will run March 17 through March 19 at 7 p.m. at the Robert E. Novo gymnasium. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and those with a student body card.
