The Weed Cougars led from start to finish during a 61-52 victory over Fall River Friday night, Jan. 8, in Weed.
Robert West scored 24 points, Jake West scored 11 points with 13 rebounds and Robert Gonzales scored 12 points before fouling out for the winning team.
Coach Mike Carpine said the Cougars' defense "was absolutely fantastic."
Following a thrilling victory earlier in the week over Trinity (www.mtshastanews.com/sports/x1793474250/Web-update-Cougar-hoops-teams-open-SCL-with-victories), the Cougars ended the week on top of the SCL standings at 2-0 and 11-2.
The only other SCL team without a loss is Burney at 1-0.
Fall River and Weed were both 1-0 and 10-2 coming into the game.
