After a disappointing loss at Fall River earlier in the week, the Mount Shasta High School girls basketball team needed a win against a tough opponent Friday night to avoid falling to 0-2.
The Bears got what they wanted, riding a fast start to a 45-38 victory over visiting Etna.
Mount Shasta built a 21-8 lead in the second quarter, saw that lead dwindle to 4 points early in the fourth quarter, then made some key shots and forced turnovers down the stretch to secure the win.
Taylor Hansen scored 11 and Amanda Amesbury and Kismet Prosper had 10 each.
Coach Danny Hansen said, "We executed our game plan to a 'T.' We're back in it now."
