The Weed and Mount Shasta high school soccer teams are both scheduled to host first round Northern Section playoff games Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 3 p.m.
Weed, after finishing second in the Shasta Cascade League with an 11-1-2 record, is seeded No. 3 and will host No. 6 Paradise Adventist, which tied for third in the Feather River League with Redding Christian at 8-3-1.
Mount Shasta, which finished third in the SCL with a 10-2-2 record, is scheduled to host Redding Christian, the No. 5 seed.
Tulelake, which won the SCL with a 12-0-2 record, is seeded No. 2 and will open the playoffs against No. 7 Trinity, the SCL’s No. 4 team with an 8-6-1 record.
Top seed Quincy won the Feather River League with a 10-0 record and will host No. 8 Etna, which had a 1-13 record in the SCL.
With a first round win, Weed would advance to the semifinals on Thursday against either Tulelake or Trinity at the home of the higher seed.
The winner of the Mount Shasta-Redding Christian game will most likely travel to Quincy for Thursday’s other semifinal.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28, at the home of the higher seed.
Weed and Mount Shasta were the only teams to blemish Tulelake’s record, both playing the Honkers to a tie the week of Oct. 10-12.
