Coach Greg Spruill praised his Dunsmuir High School baseball team for playing its best game of the season against Princeton in the Northern Section CIF Division 6 championship game May 19.
The host Tigers lost, 7-5, but Spruill called them winners as he introduced his players during last Wednesday evening’s spring sports banquet at the school.
He said the Tigers’ development as a team and players “was nothing short of miraculous.”
One year after being unable to field a team because of a shortage of players, the Tigers won the Evergreen League in 2009 received a second place Northern Section Division 6 plaque.
It was the 13th EL title Dunsmuir has won in the 22 seasons that Spruill has been their head coach.
