The Dunsmuir Tigers' playoff run ended in Maxwell Tuesday night, where the host team scored 28 points in the first quarter on the way to a 71-54 semifinal win.
No. 7 seeded Maxwell advances to the Northern Section Division VI championship game to play No. 5 Mercy, which knocked off No. 1 Hayfork Tuesday night, 54-51.
Dunsmuir, the No. 11 seed, finishes the season 11-14 overall, including two postseason road victories.
Maxwell moves forward after eliminating three Evergreen League teams in the playoffs, Happy Camp, Big Valley and Dunsmuir.
Matt Norton scored 16 points for Dunsmuir at Maxwell, Nate Gonzales 10, Zack Shirley 7, Jake Mekeel 7, Collin Lattanzio 6, LT Hisey 3, Jordan VanWilgen 2, Christian DeLeon 2 and Kile Beck 1.
Dunsmuir coach Kale Riccomini said Maxwell "was athletic and quick, and were a step slow defensively... We got beat by a better team."
The Tigers trailed 28-17 after one quarter and 45-25 at half time.
"Our kids battled and played hard," Riccomini said.
