Some south county sports updates for the week of Jan. 5 to 11, 2010:
The Weed High School boys basketball team won its first two Shasta Cascade League games of the season, while the Weed girls and Mount Shasta boys and girls both went 1-1.

After disappointing losses at Fall River on Tuesday, Jan. 5, the Mount Shasta girls and boys both defeated Etna Friday night at home.

Dunsmuir’s boys basketball team lost its only game of the season to Hayfork Friday night.
College of the Siskiyous’ men’s basketball team won its home opener over Umpqua on Jan. 6, while the Eagle women split a pair of games in Fresno to conclude their preseason at 10-5.
