The Weed cross country team had a good showing at the Yreka Invitational at Greenhorn Park, even with most of their team not participating and  with a young team.  This was the first opportunity for some of these runners to compete in an organized event.
The Cougars were only able to compete in individual completions because they couldn’t get enough players to fill a team.  It was considered to complete the five boys as a varsity team but the coaches Darren and Nancy Quigley decided it would be best to compete one of the runners at a lower level.
Ryan Coates was the only Cougar to compete in the freshman division and he had an impressive showing.  Tyler Moser also had a good showing at the JV level.  Daniel Bohling was the only varsity runner for Weed at the invite.
It was the first time for senior Katie Goltz and sophomore Michelle Downer.  Chelsea had the best performance of all the ladies on Saturday.
“Each runner did a good job.  I’m happy for all of them,” Nancy Quigley stated on Monday.
