He's baaaack ... The Terminator, that is, but Arnold is nowhere to be found. Ben Stiller is back, too, as the nightwatchman at a museum, and the Wayans Brothers are up to their old tricks with another send-up movie.
Christian Bale takes on the role of John Connor in the lucrative franchise’s fourth entry, which is two more than “Terminator” creator James Cameron thought was needed. That’s why he has washed his hands of both this film, directed by “Charlie’s Angels” hack McG, and the last one, starring a geriatric Arnold Schwarzenegger.
NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN
Ben Stiller reprises his role as the night watchman who literally witnesses history coming alive after everyone else has left the museum.
THE BROTHERS BLOOM
Adrien Brody and Mark Ruffalo play con men brothers who target a gorgeous heiress (Rachel Weisz) who doesn’t get out of the mansion much anymore. Indulging his love of quirkiness, writer-director Rian Johnson (“Brick”), whips up an old-fashioned comedy involving a globetrotting scheme to swipe a rare book. But the real story lies in the relationships that evolve between the brothers and Weisz.
Juliette Binoche stars as one of three adult siblings faced with the task of dividing up their mother’s lucrative estate – including lots of high-end art – after she kicks the bucket. Be sure to look for Kyle Eastwood (son of Clint) in a cameo as Binoche’s boyfriend.
The Wayans brothers, Damon, Shawn and Damien, try to recapture the magic of their “Scary Movie” with this send-up of teen dance flicks.
THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE
Steven Soderbergh continues to feed his love of experimentation with this documentary-style feature in which a high-priced Manhattan hooker (porn star Sasha Grey) meets up with leaders in business and politics (think Elliot Spitzer) and offers them not just sex, but companionship, as well – all for a measly $2,000 an hour.
“Twilight” hunk Robert Pattinson plays Salvador Dalí in a tale about the famous artist and his close pals, Federico García Lorca (Javier Beltrán) and Luis Buñuel (Matthew McNulty) when they were students in Spain during the 1920s.
THE COUNTRY TEACHER
A young science teacher befriends a woman and her 17-year-old son, but complications ensue when the woman’s ex-boyfriend proffers the idea that teacher might be hot for her son.
