Ed Herzog, former resident of Mount Shasta, passed away August 16, 2008 in Enumclaw, Washington, surrounded by family. He was 66.
Ed was one of three children born to Bob and Nancy Herzog (Bob’s Gun Shop). He graduated from Mount Shasta High School in 1959 and College of the Siskiyous in 1961.
He then spent six years in the United States Army, including two overseas tours of duty. He later attended UC Davis.
He initially built houses in Davis, and later spent most of his working career as an insurance adjuster in Helena, Montana, Anchorage and Seattle.
While he never moved back to Mount Shasta, it remained a favorite topic of discussion, especially fishing, hunting, Rod and Gun Club, baseball, hi-teens dances and building the family home on Baker Loop (now Davis Place).
Ed is survived by two daughters, Kirsten Holmes of Boxborough, Massachusetts and Sarah Edgens of Highlands, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Grace and Ava Hickey and Turner, Williams and Natalie Edgens; also by a sister, Marilyn Smith of Springfield, Oregon; and a brother, John and sister-in- law Margi (Fignani) Herzog of Sacramento.
