Ralph Eugene Hanson, a former resident of Weed, passed away on May 5, 2009 at the Veterans Hospital in Reno, Nevada following a long illness. He was 84.
Ralph was born in Kintyre, North Dakota on September 19, 1924. He moved to Susanville from Weed two years ago.
Ralph was a veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. He was a sawyer for International Paper Company, then Louisiana Pacific for 39 years.
Survivors include a son, Don Hanson (and wife Cathy) of Susanville; a daughter, Janice Kay Hyman (and husband Maury) of Sparks, Nevada; a brother, Herbert Hanson of Brevard, North Carolina; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Hanson in 2000.
A memorial service will be held this Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jim Howe officiating. Burial is at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park.
