Warren “Sid” Killingsworth departed this world peacefully to be with the Lord on September 23, 2009; just two months shy of his 104th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma; and his daughter, Marge Stone.
Sid is survived by his son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Patty from Weed; his son, Bob from Yreka; and his niece, Joan Hickox from Shasta Lake City; as well as nine grandchildren; and countless great-grandchildren.
Most folks knew him as Grandpa K.
Sid was born in Blue Lake, California on November 20, 1905 to Thomas and Florence Killingsworth. He was on his own at the age of 15 and worked to help take care of his mother, brothers and sisters.
He boxed professionally along side his three brothers in his 20s. In his 30s and 40s he owned his own trucks and worked for PG&E.
For the next 30 years he worked in the woods, drove water truck and set chokers. He retired at the age of 68.
He always said that he wanted to have enough money to make sure that his family would always be taken care of, and they certainly were.
Over the years, all who met Sid knew what a good and honest man he was. When he was asked what his secret was to living so long, he’d simply say, “I treated people the way I wanted to be treated.”
Sid loved his family above all else in this world and in return he was adored and respected. He will be missed so very much by so many.
Services will be held at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Park this Thursday, October 1 at 11 a.m.
