Blowing snow and wind caused a series of power outages in the Mount Shasta area on the morning of April 21, 2010, leaving 4,000 people in the dark at the outage’s peak around 8 a.m.

As of 11 a.m., 400 customers were still experiencing power outages, said Tom Gauntt, spokesperson for Pacific Power.

“We had fuses blown and wires knocked down causing a series of outages, some which were simultaneous,” Gauntt explained. “These outages have been gradually brought back on. All crews in the area, even those who were off duty were called in to help. We haven’t called in crews from out of the area at this point, but it’s certainly being looked at.”
