Winter continues in the Mt. Shasta area as snow has been falling Wednesday morning, April 21, 2010, adding to the season total of more than 105.7 inches of snow as of April 19.


Many area residents woke up to a power outage that began at about 3:40 a.m. Wednesday. The power in some areas returned briefly, then went off again. Most people had their power restored by 10:30 a.m.


Seasonal precipitation to date in the city of Mount Shasta, as recorded by National Weather Service observer Frank Christina, was 44.76 inches as of April 19, well above both the normal total to date (32.85) and last year's total on the same date (32.00).


On Tuesday, April 20, rain turned to snow then back to rain in Mount Shasta.


One weather forecast is calling for skies to clear later in the week with temperatures in the high 60s Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
