The Dunsmuir Tigers won both games at their only home game of the season against Happy Camp on Friday, 10-5 and 10-4.

Dunsmuir improved its record to 6-2 going into its final regular season doubleheader this coming Friday in Happy Camp.

The Tigers, who did not have a league to play in this year, are hoping to sweep the Indians and earn a spot in the Northern Section playoffs.

“Our kids play hard until the final out,” Tiger coach Rich Belzer said of his mostly inexperienced team. “They play 100 percent all the time... It’ been a good year.”

Against Happy Camp, Belzer said the Tigers scored consistently in both games.

Blake “LT” Hisey pitched a complete game in the opener, striking out 12 strikeouts of the 36 batters he faced in seven innings and improving his record to 3-1. He was 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Colton Sordahl was 3 for 3 with a triple and 3 runs scored; Willie Greeno walked 3 times and stole 3 bases; and Mason Mekeel was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks.

Cody Rooney pitched the nightcap and earned a complete game victory. Belzer said he was “supported by great team defense.” Rooney also doubled and scored twice.

Cody Buckly was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI?and 2 runs scored; Dylan Brashear was 2 for 2; and Justin DeClusin and Hisey had one hit apiece.

The Tigers benefited from 14 walks.
