Don Enloe passed away at Linda Vista Care Center in Ashland, Oregon on September 12, 2010. He was 93 years old.

Don was born in Bend, Oregon September 5, 1917 to Clarence and Flo Enloe.

He is survived by two brothers and one sister,  Clyde Enloe, Doug Enloe and Susie Enloe-Kirkpatrick-Stark. His brother Porky preceded him in death.

He married Winnifred Cunningham on August 25, 1940 and they shared 64 years of marriage prior to her death in 2005.

They had four children, Lynn Enloe, Larry Enloe, Lee Enloe, and Lori Luddon.  There are seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don moved to Siskiyou County in 1950 and purchased a section of property in Big Springs in the early 1960s. He and Winnie built a home there in 1964 and happily resided there for the rest of their lives.

Don was the second of four generations of well drillers. He was responsible for residential, agricultural and municipal wells throughout the western states, and he could recite from memory information about wells all over Siskiyou County regarding depths and gallons per minute.
He was also a water witcher with an amazing record of success in finding water.

After his retirement, he and Winnie enjoyed traveling in their trailer; spending a few winters in the warmer climates of Arizona; and many memorable summers on Hood Canal in Washington, where they fished, crabbed, dug clams and oysters and visited with their many friends. They always returned to Big Springs after their jaunts, refreshed and thankful to be “home.”

Services and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Big Springs Community Church with Pastor Bernie Van Ee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mayten Fire Department or Big Springs Community Church.
