The skies of South Siskiyou County are ominous Thursday afternoon as the National Weather Service warns that snow is on its way.

Though only light rain and snow are predicted for Thursday and Friday, the forecast for the weekend calls for snow accumulations of 5 to 15 inches.

A winter storm watch is in effect from Saturday morning until Sunday morning, when snow levels are predicted to be between 2,000 and 3,000 feet. Highs should be in the 20s and 30s.

Though the storm watch ends Sunday morning, snow, rain and cloudy skies are predicted through Wednesday, Nov. 24.
