The Mount Shasta Police Department is searching for a suspect who allegedly crashed a stolen pickup truck and took off on foot.

It is unclear whether the suspect has weapons, according to a City Watch automated phone call that went out to South County residences Wednesday morning.

According to the MSPD, a thin white male wearing a blue and white Hawaiian print hat and a light colored t-shirt stole a red pickup truck from a business on South Mt. Shasta Boulevard this morning. After he was spotted, he led police officers on a chase that ended when he crashed the pickup near Palmer Drive off of Ream Avenue.

A Sheriff’s K-9 unit is currently searching the area, the MSPD said.

“We’ve been getting calls left and right,” said Dawn Snure, MSPD dispatcher, from as far away as Dunsmuir and McCloud.

If you see the suspect, call the MSPD at 926-7540.
