Paula Jean Cleu Peterson passed away on December 14, 2011 after a brief illness.

Paula was born in Oakland, California to Eugene and Mabel Cleu on October 17, 1932. She attended Oakland public schools and then proceeded to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley in 1955 after completing the nursing program at the University of California, San Francisco.

In June of 1965, Paula moved to Mount Shasta with her three children. She became the school nurse for Siskiyou County schools and served the children of southern Siskiyou County for 25 years. She retired in 1990.

On August 20, 1974, she married her soul mate and the love of her life, Donald Peterson, and welcomed his two children into her life. Together, they raised their kids in Mount Shasta.

Paula is survived by her brother, Mike (Cecilia and family); son, David (Paula); son Dennis (Carolyn); daughter Michelle (Ray); daughter Cathy; and daughter-in-law Franziska.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Diana, Jennifer, Justin, John Stuart, Waylon, Tawni, Kyle, Kelly, and Elle; and great-grandchildren, Blaine, Davin, Drew, Ayden, Brady, Chloe, and Jameson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Winn; her husband, Don; and grandson, John Michael Winn-Perrachino.

In 46 years, Paula made numerous close friends who will greatly miss her.

Paula will be interred with Don at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo, California.

There will be a memorial mass and celebration of Paula’s life on January 21, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 507 Pine Street in Mount Shasta. A reception will follow at the Mount Shasta Elks Lodge, 326 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd.
