James “Jim” Richard Eachus, 84 of Brentwood, California, died peacefully on December 1, 2011 in Antioch, California with his family at his side.

Jim was born on December 12, 1926 in Dunsmuir, California to Clarence James Eachus and Helen Louise Edgerton.
He attended Dunsmuir High School and the College (now University) of the Pacific in Stockton, California, graduating with a degree in physical education.

In 1949 he began a long career in education when he became a teacher in Lodi, California. In 1958 Jim became a school administrator at South Lake Tahoe, California and continued in administrative roles until his retirement.

During his career he held positions at Yokota Air Base, Japan; Dhahran, Saudi Arabia; Fort Yukon, Alaska; and throughout California (Orcutt, Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Fort Bragg and Pescadero).

As Jim worked in schools in the USA and abroad, he consistently strived to provide every child a sound preparation for life. He was often instrumental in seeing that art and music programs were made available to students.

Jim remained active in his retirement with travel, substitute teaching, tutoring, as well as organizing and attending many reunions of family, friends and colleagues.

Jim is survived by his wife, Amy Kennedy Eachus; siblings, Mildred Cole and James Jaeckle; sons, Fred, Laurence and Paul Eachus; stepchildren, Dante Orito, Eric Orito, Charmaine Kennedy Cartago and Rochelle Kennedy Baraceros; and 12 grandchildren.
Predeceasing him were sister, Marie Thompson; brother, Robert Eachus; and son, William Eachus.

Family and friends will especially miss his wit, intelligence and sense of humor.
