A Mount Shasta man was arrested Friday morning in connection with a burglary at Seven Suns Coffee and Cafe which had been reported three days before.

Lamont Darnell Brown, II, 19, was arrested at approximately 9 a.m. on Jan. 9 after deputies from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant at his home in the 1000 block of South Mt. Shasta Boulevard, according to Allison Giannini, Sheriff’s spokesperson.

During the warrant service, Brown was arrested for felony failure to appear charges, Giannini said.

During his arrest, deputies established some of the property located on Mr. Brown’s person was connected to a recent burglary at Seven Suns, which is located in the vicinity of Brown’s residence.

On the morning of Jan. 6, Mount Shasta Police Department officers took a report of a burglary at Seven Suns Coffee and Cafe, according to police reports. Cash, coins, and food and drink items were missing from the business and a window was found broken and open, the MSPD said.

With the help of the MSPD on Friday morning, a search was conducted of Brown’s personal belongings, said Giannini, yielding other items listed in the coffee shop’s burglary and theft incident report.

The owners of the stolen property identified the property recovered at the residence, Giannini said.

Brown was booked into the Siskiyou County Jail on the felony warrant as well as additional burglary, possession of stolen property, and theft-related charges.

Brown is being held on $50,000 bail, Giannini said.
