Albert Hanner, a resident of Weed, passed away on January 20, 2012 at Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed. He was 92 years old.

Albert was born in Red Bluff, California on September 8, 1919. He moved to Siskiyou County from Red Bluff 90 years ago.

Albert was a veteran of the US Army serving in Europe during World War II. He worked as an engineer for logging firms before his retirement.

Albert was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Yreka; and a former member of Mount Shasta Elks Lodge No. 2333. He enjoyed fixing broken items around the house.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hanner of Weed; son, Franklin Hanner of Redding; daughter, Elaine Marie Mills of Weed; brothers, John Hanner and Ernest Hanner, both of Highland, California; sisters, Margaret Clear of Seattle, Washington, Lydia Duncan of Auburn, Washington and Rita Hanner of Sacramento, California; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held today, January 25 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel in Mount Shasta, with Pastor Jim Howe officiating. Burial is at Winema Cemetery in Weed.
