Walter Neil Bullington Sr., a resident of Mount Shasta, passed away on August 28, 2012 at Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed, California. He was 76 years old.

Walter was born in Los Angeles, California on March 11, 1936. He moved to Siskiyou County from Orange County in 1971.

Walter was in the US Air Force Reserve from 1954 to 1962.

Walter was a Siskiyou County Deputy Sheriff for 20 years. He worked for the Santa Ana Police Department for 14 years; and was a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff for two years.

Walter taught Police Science courses at College of the Siskiyous. He was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bullington of Mount Shasta; sons, Walt Bullington Jr. of Cottonwood, William N. Bullington of Lake Shastina, and Wayne N. Bullington of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughters, Brenda C. Lovelady of Lake Oswego, Oregon, Bridget C. Thrush of Janesville, California, Carolyn N. Lopez of Mount Shasta, and Catherine M. Miller of Lake Oswego, Oregon; brother, Phillip L. Bullington of Post Falls, Idaho; 28 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Aug. 31 at noon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mount Shasta with Father Nichols officiating. Burial is at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park.
