No experience is necessary for seniors 50 or older who would like to join Siskiyou Senior Players, a local theater group.
The Siskiyou Senior Players begins its class at College of the Siskiyous Sept. 24 and director DeLeon Grabowski is looking for seniors who want to have fun putting on productions.
"If you are a senior, 50 or older, and would like to act, sing, dance, read, write, be a technical assistant in a live theatre setting, and have fun in a creative atmosphere, this is the perfect class for you," Grabowski said. "You will learn to do improv, and imitate famous and not so famous people including celebrities, politicians and local characters."
Grabowski emphasizes that no previous experience is required and that performing on the stage is not necessary.
"You don't have to have ever acted anywhere to be a part of our program," Grabowski said. "And you don't have to act. You can just help with stage setups, assist the actors and many other helpful activities. If you want to have fun, we'll find something useful for you to do."
Classes are held under the direction of Grabowski on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15 to 5 p.m. in the James Witherell Black Box Theatre at COS from Sept. 24 to Dec. 12.
"There will be an opportunity to perform at various times throughout Siskiyou County and play a role in the annual spring production at COS," Grabowski said. "Take a took are our website at www.siskiyouseniorplayers.com to see how much fun we have."
