William “Dr. Bill” Mariner of Mount Shasta, passed away on September 29, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, California. He was 63 years old.
Twenty-four years ago Bill was drawn to Mt. Shasta, where he worked as a chiropractic healer. He will be greatly missed by his patients, students and friends.
Originally from Rochester, New York, Bill is survived by his brothers, Mark and Roger; and his life partner, Carla. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Muff.
Bill met Gangaji in 2003, and since that meeting lived a life surrendered to Silence. Quiet and unassuming, yet embodying a powerful depth of presence, Bill will remain very much alive in the hearts of many.
Bill had been diagnosed with cancer two months ago, and in the weeks preceding his death he fully came to terms with the eventuality of his passing. In his last days, the light and radiance of his Spirit was unusually strong, as if the suit of his human form was being “unzipped.”
Bill lived a life that was honorable, kind and in service to the well being of others. He was able to leave this life peaceful and fulfilled.
A memorial event will be held on Saturday, November 3 at the Mount Shasta City Park, lower lodge. The memorial begins at 12:30 p.m. and is a potluck event. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, it would be Bill’s wish that donations be made to the Gangaji Foundation.
