John W. Lewis, a resident of Dunsmuir, California, passed away on February 28, 2013 due to pulmonary fibrosis complicated by pneumonia. He was 69 years old.

John was born in Winslow, Arizona on April 7, 1943 to Dillon Raymond Lewis and Edna Bates Lewis (both previous residents of Dunsmuir and both born in Arizona). John moved to Dunsmuir in 2001.

He attended Oregon State University and completed various trainings for Aircraft Electronics Certifications.

John was retired, previously a butcher at Thriftway Market, Dunsmuir. He worked as an aircraft electrician with the US Navy and Air Force (civilian employee); and served in the US Marine Corps.

He was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Northern California. He was active in the AA community in Northern California and volunteered at various activities in the greater Dunsmuir area.

Survivors include his children: Rebecca Casias, James Lewis, Michael Lewis, and Kasdondra Lewis-Williams; seven sibling; six grandchildren; and his ex-wife, Therese “Terry” Williams.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 214 N. Adams Drive in Mount Shasta followed by burial at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park.
