Before they go their separate ways this fall, Weed High School seniors Luke Hart, Elizabeth Stensaas, Karene Marshall and Eva Escatel will spend one more night together during a commencement ceremony at their school’s gymnasium.

Before they go their separate ways this fall, Weed High School seniors Luke Hart, Elizabeth Stensaas, Karene Marshall and Eva Escatel will spend one more night together during a commencement ceremony at their school’s gymnasium.

The four will graduate this Thursday, June 6 at a ceremony set to begin at 7 p.m. Their high grade point averages have earned Luke, Elizabeth and Karene the distinction of co-valedictorians. Eva is salutatorian.

Put together, their achievements at WHS could fill a book. Each of them took several Advanced Placement classes. They participated in sports including basketball, baseball, snowboarding, football, cross country, tennis and track. They were in student government, participated in Key Club and Crosswalk and served as peer mediators.

Luke and Karene are recipients of the Ford Scholarship. Luke will attend Van Guard University in Costa Mesa next year to study music education. Karene will pursue her dream of become a nurse while studying at Simpson University in Redding.

Elizabeth will attend Willamette University in Salem, Ore. next year with the goal to eventually become a physician. Eva will attend College of the Siskiyous before transferring to Oregon Institute of Technology to become an ultrasound technician.
