Judson Paul Phipps, 71, of Dunsmuir, California, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Paul is survived by his wife, Donna; son, Nikos Phipps and wife Shauna; stepchildren: DeAnn Fine and husband Mark, Michael Tortorich and wife Carol; grandchildren: Alyssa, Tyler, Cara, Savannah, Cheyenne, and Wyatt; great-grandson, Graham; sister, Charlene Jackson and husband Larry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul grew up in Dunsmuir and graduated from Dunsmuir High School in 1960.
He joined the US Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Paul worked on the railroad as a conductor and graduated from Sacramento State University. Paul earned a Master’s degree in education and found his calling as a well-loved teacher.
Paul was someone who didn’t let a day go by without an adventure or inspiring his family, friends and students. Among his favorite things to do were travel with his wife; spend as much time as possible with his grandchildren; and raft any river he could find.
