A good mix of locals and out-of-towners took home trophies Saturday afternoon from Lake Shastina’s Hot Rods & Bikes gathering at Hoy Park.

Lake Shastina Department of Public Safety Community Services officer Tammy Baker said the event, now in its fourth year, was a success: more than 100 people enjoyed checking out the 30 entries.

People admired a variety of vintage cars and bikes, hot rods, classics and customs, including a mint green Harley Davidson Heritage Softail owned by Lake Shastina’s Larry Green and Jimmy Smith’s cherry red and white 1959 Corvette.

“We are going to keep the date. Next year’s show will be on the Saturday after Labor Day,” Baker said.

Providing a variety of musical entertainment was Al Sosa of Lake Shastina.

Taking home the Best of Show award was Troy Boyd of Medford, Ore. for his white 1952 Chevy Pickup.

The People’s Choice award went to Brett Bring of Mount Shasta, for his 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe.

Best Paint went to a 1956 Ford Pickup owned by Gary Brinkman of Yreka, and Chief’s Choice was awarded to a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda owned by Tom and Linda Thoreson of Mount Shasta.

First place was a 1923 Studebaker Roadster owned by Angela Wilson of Shingletown; second place was a 1962 Chevy Impala SS Stock owned by Mike and Julie Hamm of Orland; and third place went to a 1955 Chevy Wagon owned by Larry Stalions of Medford, Ore.

Money raised from the show will go toward the Lake Shastina Public Safety Department’s children’s safety programs, said Baker.
