Aldino Septimio Sarti, a past resident of McCloud, passed away at the Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, California on September 9, 2013. He was 92 years old.

Aldino was born in McCloud, California on March 31, 1921. He lived in McCloud until he joined the Merchant Marines during World War II where he served as Chief Steward and saw action in the Pacific.

He was married to Erna Sarti who passed away on January 22, 2013. Aldino and Erna were married for 66 years. He was a beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his son, Charles Sarti of Sacramento, California; his son, Michael Sarti of Los Angeles, California; his daughter, Jan Marrs of Lexington, Kentucky; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Aldino will be greatly missed. He was a very generous man that dedicated his life to giving and not receiving. Growing up in the depression wasn’t easy, but what kept him alive was his love of life and drive to be successful.

He was a self-made entrepreneur and innovator who started at the bottom and rose to the top through hard work and determination.

He created a successful chain of motels in California, Colorado and Florida that are still running today. He was a businessman, entrepreneur and true family man. His family considers him a legend and sees his passing as the end of an era.

He will be interred at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park. The service will be held at the Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel on Saturday, September 14 at 2 p.m.
