Erik Berglund, 65 of Mount Shasta, formerly of Northfield, Minnesota, passed away September 2, 2013 after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 27, 1948 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to Mount Shasta in 1991.
He attended Northfield schools, graduating with honors from St. Olaf College in 1970. He sang in the St. Olaf Choir, played violin, and performed leading roles in theater productions.
After graduation he moved to New York City and partnered in the city’s largest children’s puppet theater, writing and performing productions. He studied harp with renowned premiere harpist Mildred Dillon.
In California he continued developing his musical talents as singer and harpist, composing and producing CDs.
He traveled worldwide on concert tours, meeting thousands who loved him personally and his inspirational music.
He generously gave his time and talents at Northfield Care Center, honoring his mother Olga, her friends and extended family with concerts, cheering their hearts.
Erik was known and will be remembered for his determination, energy, love and compassion for others. All who were in his presence felt the presence of an Angel, a pure soul.
Erik devoted his life to serving the enlightenment of all humanity and gave tirelessly of all he had to this purpose.
Erik will be greatly missed by his beloved friends and fans worldwide. He just finished recording what he consider his very best work for an additional CD when he became ill, but the final studio production is not completed.
Survivors include his longtime partner, Scott of Mount Shasta; brothers, Peter (Linda) of Hopkins, Minnesota and Andrew (Rebecca) of Northfield; three nieces, three nephews and their spouses, children and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Olga Berglund; and sister, Miriam.
