Robert Alves Mello, age 74, passed away on October 9, 2013.

Robert was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on November 29, 1938. He moved to Santa Clara, California when he was age 13. He graduated from Santa Clara High in 1955.

He started his career at Westinghouse in Sunnyvale, California; then went on to a career as a mechanical engineer at Coherent, Inc. He retired in 1999 and moved to Mount Shasta, California.

Robert was a loving husband to his first wife, Carol Mello, whom passed in 1996; and second wife, Patricia Mello, whom passed in 2011.

Robert was a dedicated father to Deborah Rodebaugh of Farmington, New Mexico, Kristen McIntyre of Palmdale, California, Kimberly Mello of San Jose, California, and Denise Dulin of Los Gatos, California; and stepchildren: Brian Dulin of Chico, California, Debbie Fisher of Granite Bay, California, and David Dulin of Los Gatos, California.

He was the beloved grandfather of Michael Mattert, Stephanie Coluccio, Eric McIntyre, Robbie McIntyre, Ryan Novak, Alexis Dulin, Shane Dulin, Fiona Rodebaugh, Kyle Dulin, Jasmine Dulin, Sean Fisher, and Mathew Fisher. He was great-grandfather to Cora Mattert.

Services will be held on Tuesday, October 22 beginning at 11 a.m. at Darling & Fischer in Los Gatos.

Another service will be held in the near future in Mount Shasta.
