Rita passed away on February 18, 2014.

Rita Cunningham was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 17, 1928. She was the oldest of four children. Rita's family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1931.

In 1950, Rita married Oakford Green. Oak and Rita had four children and moved to Santa Maria, California in 1960.

Rita worked for the Soil Conservation Service and then the United States Forest Service until her retirement.

After Oak passed away, Rita decided to leave the Santa Maria area. Dunsmuir, California was the choice, as that was where her daughter Kathy, and grandchild Bo and Sandra lived.

Rita soon became caught up in volunteering to help a number of groups and organizations in Dunsmuir. Rita's boundless energy soon turned her volunteering into a full time job. Some of Rita's favorite work included Railroad Days, the Train Depot, the Dunsmuir Library, and St. Johns Catholic Church.

Rita is survived by her brother Jack, her four children Kathy, Jack, Tom and Lee as well Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held for Rita at St. Johns Catholic Church in Dunsmuir on March 14th at 10:30am.
