Teresa Marie Stiegler, born Patricia Louise Stiegler, a resident of Dunsmuir, California, passed away on January 13, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta at the age of 71.
Teresa was born in Dunsmuir on December 31, 1942. She entered the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family in 1960 and received her final vows in 1967.
She was religious education coordinator of eight parishes throughout California. She developed youth confirmation and adult education programs.
Teresa was a member of diocesan planning for adult catechist and faith formation, a regional coordinator for the Sisters of the Holy Family, and a member of the leadership team acting on behalf of SHF issues.
She also was a legislative advocate of Jericho, on behalf of social justice issues in Sacramento.
Teresa moved back to Dunsmuir in 2000. She was an Associate Chaplin at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta, while taking care of her parents Arthur and Dorothy Stiegler, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother, Michael Stiegler of San Mateo, California; sisters: Marie Stiegler of La Habra, California, Dorothy Stiegler-Graves of Vancouver, Washington, and Carol Stiegler-Blaydes of Clovis, California; an uncle and aunt, Michael and Carol Mogan of Los Banos, California; two nieces; three nephews; and two great-nieces.
A memorial mass will be held Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 5605 Shasta Avenue in Dunsmuir, with Father John Lawrence presiding.
