Born on June 21, 1922 in Talent, Oregon, longtime Redding resident Irene Tadina Zani passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 while residing at Oakdale Heights in Redding, California.

Irene’s early years were spent on her brother, Gerald Tadina’s ranch near Weed, California before traveling to northern Italy with her mother, where she completed her schooling and began a career in women’s clothing working in Paris, France.

She returned to the United States in 1952 and began working at Dickers in Redding, retiring after 35 years there.

Her lifelong interests were her Catholic religion, sewing, her travels to foreign lands, cooking (as she was a big fan of Emril the chef) and of course her backyard on Gold Street where flowering plants grew in abundance.

Irene’s celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mount Shasta; followed by her being laid to rest at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park alongside her husband Henry, and other Tadina family members.

She touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed.
