The Weed Lady Cougars have a first round bye in the Northern Section Division 5 playoffs, while the Mount Shasta Bears are scheduled to host a postseason game Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at 7 p.m. Article includes link to Division 5 playoff bracket.

The Weed High School girls basketball team (11-1 and 21-5) won its third consecutive Shasta Cascade League championship and is seeded No. 2 in the Northern Section playoffs for the third year in a row. The Cougars have a first round bye Tuesday, then open at home Thursday.

Mount Shasta's girls (7-5 and 14-11) moved up to finish tied for third place in the SCL by scoring a decisive 51-31 victory at second place Etna (9-3 and 18-8) Friday night.

Seeded No. 5 in the Division 5 playoff bracket, the Lady Bears are scheduled to host CORE Butte of Chico (11-10 overall) in a first round game Tuesday night, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.

Mount Shasta won its final three SCL games to tie Fall River (7-5 and 19-7) for second place.

Etna is seeded No. 3 in Division 5 and, like Weed and No. 1 Durham, has a first round bye.

Fall River is the top seed in Division 6.
