Shasta Cascade League champion Mount Shasta is the top seed in the 2015 Division 5 boys basketball playoff bracket and has a first round bye. No. 8 Weed hosts a first round game Wednesday night, Feb. 25, With a win, Weed will advance to play the Bears Friday night in Mount Shasta.

After finishing an 11-1 Shasta Cascade League championship season with a victory Friday night in Etna, the Mount Shasta High School boys basketball is 20-6 overall, seeded No. 1 in the Northern Section Division 5 playoffs and gets a first round bye.

The Weed Cougars (5-7 and 15-11) are seeded No. 8 and scheduled to host No. 9 East Nicolaus Wednesday night, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. in Weed.

With a first round win, Weed will advance to play at Mount Shasta Friday night at 7 p.m.

Weed finished tied for fourth in the SCL with Etna (10-16), which did not qualify for the playoffs. Trinity (16-7 and 10-2) finished second to Mount Shasta in league and is seeded No. 4 in Division 5.

Third place Fall River (9-3 and 23-3) is the No. 2 seed in Division 6.
