The Siskiyou County Sheriff's office reported Friday afternoon that it sees no evidence of a connection between two death investigations initiated Thursday, March 19, 2015.
The Sheriff’s Office, according to a press release, was involved with a coroner’s investigation and assist in a death investigation initiated by the Yreka Police Department in the city of Yreka Thursday afternoon.
The Yreka PD reported that the remains of an Asian male were found in Yreka Creek, south of Montague Road. The incident was classified as a suspicious death.
Then, just prior to 6 p.m. Thursday, Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office deputies found a deceased male adult in a parked vehicle in the Deer Creek area, an unincorporated expanse of land located north of the City of Yreka and east of SR 263, according to the Sheriff’s Office release.
The deceased man found in the vehicle was identified as Mr. Godfrey Ifiemi Ginah, age 19, with an address in Alameda County.
Ginah, according to the Sheriff’s Office, was previously reported missing by Alameda County law enforcement authorities.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Ginah,” Sheriff Jon Lopey states in the press release. “The case is still under investigation and the manner and cause of death will not be determined until an autopsy is conducted within the new few days.”
Sheriff Lopey urges anyone with information about Mr. Ginah to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office at the 24-hour dispatch number of (530) 841-2900.
