Into paradise the angels took Millie Johnson on March 21, 2015. Services will be held at the Mt. Shasta Methodist church Sunday March 29th at 2:00 p.m.
Mildred Elizabeth Hertz was born in a sod hut March 6, 1920 in Montana. She attended a one room school in South Dakota until the family moved to Iowa City where she attended nursing school and met and married a dashing young dental student Darrell Johnson.
Darrell and Millie enjoyed dancing, playing cards, travel and family. They were blessed with four children, JoElla Johnson of Sacramento, Susan (and Lee) Chambers of Albany, Oregon and Judy (and Bob) Wheeler of Dunsmuir, and Swiss daughter Mayouk Bagdasarianz of Lausanne, Switzerland. Grandchildren Tara, Casey, Tadd and Elizabeth. Swiss grandchildren Valerie, Patrice and Annik. Great-grandchildren Makayla, Jaina, Julius, Opal and Logan. Swiss great-grandchildren Maxime, Lucy, Arthur, Josephine and Mathis. Darrell practiced dentistry in Weed while Millie raised the kids in Mt. Shasta.
Once the children were grown Millie renewed her R.N. license and went to work at Mt. Shasta Hospital in the brand new cardiac care unit. After she retired she volunteered at Mercy Mount Shasta until she was 90 years old.
Millie was known as a loving and caring person. While celebrating her 95th birthday with all her family she kept saying that she was, “The luckiest old lady in the world.” She was preceded in death by her husband “Doc” Johnson and son Steven Kay Johnson.
Memorial contributions can be made to the United Methodist Church, 312 W. Alma St. Mount Shasta, 96067.
