Celia Meehan Scott made her transition on March 16, 2015 at Shasta View Nursing Center in Weed, California. She was 101 years old, having been born on December 17, 1913 in San Diego, California.
Celia was a resident of Shasta View for nearly five years where she received very fine care. Celia has lived in the Weed area for about 11 years. She spent the rest of her life living in southern California.
Celia received a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1936. She received a Master of Arts degree from Pasadena College in 1967. She received her teaching credential in 1938. Her last teaching position was with Azusa Unified Schools in 1969, 45 years ago. She taught kindergarten for 27 years.
Celia’s parents were Thomas P. Meehan, born in San Francisco, and Nettie Detrick, born in Denver, Colorado. Celia’s siblings were Herbert, Patrick and Katherine, all deceased.
Celia was married for 31 years to Paul L. Scott (deceased). They had three children: David L. Scott of Camarillo, Sheryl Elizabeth Scott Myers (deceased) of San Jose, and Bonnie Scott Thomas of Weed. Celia has five grandchildren: Ellen Myers Vaughn of Placerville, Christopher Myers of Morgan Hill, Angela Thomas Towner of Weed, David R. Scott of Ontario, and Shana Scott Swanson of Las Vegas, Nevada. Celia also has six great-grandchildren.
A music lover, Celia played the piano all her life. She could still play at 101. A church goer most of her life, Celia sometimes played organ or piano for church services.
