John H. Cordes, Sr., a resident of Weed, California, left us on a beautiful spring morning, April 18, 2015.

John was the ultimate surf and sun worshiper from the beaches of southern California to the pristine mountain lakes of northern California.

John was a joy to all who knew him, gentle and kind. A loving husband, father, brother and son.

He loved playing horseshoes with his son and grandsons – he was a real “ringer!” A finer man you’ll never find.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly; daughters, Sherry Cordes of Dunsmuir, California, and Annette Hurley of Redding, California; sister, Sally Rendell of Big Pine, California; brother, Michael G. Cordes of Reno, Nevada; granddaughters, Harley and Hillary Hurley, and Allyson Cordes; grandsons, Brandon and Caleb Cordes; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Cordes, Jr.

Services will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel; with graveside service at Winema Cemetery in Weed.

You are welcome to stop by the Cordes home at 454 Sullivan Avenue in Weed after the services.

Arrangements are in the care of Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel.
