Rumi’s Caravan, a group of five poet/performers from the San Francisco Bay Area, will present “a poetic conversation of soul and ecstatic poetry” Saturday night, May 16, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at College of the Siskiyous’ Ford Theater in Weed.

Sponsored by Weed Friends of the Library and Cover2Cover, the event will benefit the new Weed Library, located at 150 Alamo Ave. in Weed.

The poems to be shared “have been memorized, deeply embodied and spoken by heart,” according to a press release.

Harpist Patricia Hill will add her beautiful music to the evening.

Tickets are available at Directions and Village Books in downtown Mount Shasta, the new Weed Library, Nature's Kitchen in Yreka, and at the door on the night of the event.

“The members of the Caravan are at the top of their game and eager to present their poetic gifts to benefit the New Weed Library,” wrote Nadine Aiello of Cover2Cover in a message to friends. “I promise you it will not be an ordinary evening.”

Caravan poets are: Doug von Koss, Larry Robinson, Kay Crista, Maya Spector and Barry Spector.

The suggested donation is $15 or $5 for children.
