A 10-3 win over Anderson Wednesday evening advanced South Siskiyou to the championship bracket of the District 1 Junior All Star tournament. They'll have two chances to win the title, beginning with a game scheduled for Sunday, July 5, at 4 p.m. at Martindale Field.
With a 10-3 win over Anderson Wednesday evening at Martindale Field, South Siskiyou is the last undefeated team in the District 1 Junior All Star tournament.
They’ll have the first of two chances to win the championship Sunday at 4 p.m. on their home field.
Kaden Riccomini shut out Anderson over the first five innings and doubled to drive in two during a four-run second-inning rally.
South Siskiyou’s offense scored its 10 runs on just 5 hits, doubles by Abraham Barr and Riccomini and singles by Gage Kinkade, Kaimana Ferguson and Hunter Stock.
They reached based 10 times on walks and 4 batters were hit by a pitch.
Kayden Crisci walked 4 times, stole 4 bases and scored 3 runs.
Ferguson drove in 2; Barr drove in a run and scored twice; Myles DeLeon and Ian Allen scored one run each; and Stock had an RBI single.
Stock came on to pitch in the sixth inning and retired one batter before leaving the game with an injury. Ferguson pitched the final 1 2/3 innings.
Anderson is scheduled to play at 5:30 Friday for a spot in the championship bracket.
If South Siskiyou is unsuccessful in Sunday’s first championship game, a winner-take-all final game would start at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 6.
