After winning Thursday's Section 2 tournament opener, the South Siskiyou District 1 champion Junior All Stars are scheduled to face Alturas Friday at 7 p.m.

The South Siskiyou District 1 champion Junior All Stars opened the Section 2 tournament with a 3-0 win over Sutter Buttes Thursday in Susanville.

South Siskiyou scored single runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings of the seven-inning game.

Kaden Riccomini pitched 6 2/3 shutout innings, and Hunter Stock came in to get the game’s final out.

Kayden Crisci had 2 of South Siskiyou’s 5 hits, and Kaimana Ferguson drove in 2 runs.

South Siskiyou is scheduled to play District 48 champion Alturas Friday evening at 7 p.m. The winner of that game advances to Sunday evening’s first championship game.

District 2 champion Sutter Buttes is scheduled to play an elimination game against District 47 champion Lake Oroville Saturday at 4 p.m.

Gage Kinkade got hit by a pitch to lead off Thursday’s game for South Siskiyou. He stole second base and scored on a single by Kaimana Ferguson.

Ian Allen reached on an error in the fifth inning, and pinch runner Gavin Paisley came around to score when Kaimana Ferguson was safe on an error.

Kole Riccomini and Kinkade had singles in the seventh inning, when Kekai Ferguson reached on a fielder’s choice and scored on a ground out by Abraham Barr.
