Two free multimedia presentations of one man’s eight year journey across the globe on a tandem bicycle will take place in Mount Shasta this weekend.

The presentations by Jamie Bianchini will give a glimpse into his tour of 81 countries on a tandem bike, inviting anyone and everyone he met along the way to ride with him.

The first presentation is Friday night, Oct. 2, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Handsome John’s Speakeasy on Chestnut Street. The Friday night event is being held at a bar and is for adults only.

A family friendly presentation is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to noon at the City Park Upper Lodge. Kids are encouraged to attend the Saturday event.

Both events are free and include a complimentary raffle ticket for prizes provided by Bianchini’s sponsors.

Mount Shasta is one stop in Bianchini’s 36-state book tour with his wife and two young

children.

Copies of his book, “A Bicycle Built for Two Billion,” will be available for purchase and signing at both events.

Bianchini promises the events will deliver “wild and inspirational stories” of his eight year journey.

“Along my adventure, I hustled up donations and sponsors to provide 100 bikes to an impoverished township Cape Town, disperse hundreds of doses of life-saving Malaria medication to small African communities, start a school for AIDS orphans in Uganda, and bring fresh water to a community suffering from sickness and death in Bolivia,” Bianchini wrote in an email.

A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to Innocent Tumuheki, a guest on Bianchini’s tandem bike who followed his dream of opening Good Hope School in Uganda.
