Samuel Curtis “SC” Smith, a resident of Mount Shasta, California, passed away at his home on September 28, 2015. He was 90 years old.

Samuel was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on August 29, 1925.

Samuel was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Philippines and Japan during World War II. He moved to Siskiyou County following the war.

He worked as a grader/dispatcher for Kimberly-Clark and Roseburg Lumber.

Samuel was a member of the American Legion; and Mt. Shasta Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his son, Melvin S. Smith of Oakland; daughters, Darlene Hurst of Mount Shasta and Annies Smith-McCarden of West Point, Georgia; brother, Thomas J. Williams of Seattle, Washington; sister, Sallie Mae Gillroy of Oakland; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Samuel was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Smith; and son, Larry S. Smith.

Visitation has been scheduled for Friday, October 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel in Mount Shasta.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel. Burial is at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park.
