We are saddened by the death of our Dad, Joe Francis Aquila. Joe was born in Weed, Ca; December 27, 1923 and died at the age of 91. He worked at International Paper Co after coming home from the U.S. Army where he served in the Phillippines and Japan. He lived in Weed most of his life until he moved to North Bend, OR in December 2012 to live with his daughter and son-in-law.
He and his wife Esther were married August 23, 1947. She preceded him in death in May 1998. Joe enjoyed walking around Weed and with his daughter in North Bend. He loved driving around town and stopping to talk to all the people and having coffee with his buddies at the Hi Lo cafe. He also loved making his Hot sausage, his spaghetti sauce and meatballs.
He leaves his sister Flora Spinella of Sacramento and brother Frank(Bunny) Aquila of Weed.
He is survived by his son Frank and daughter-in-law Linda from Napa, Ca and daughter Kathy and son-in-law Larry Willett from North Bend, OR. He also leaves four grandchildren, Tom, Lisa, Tina and Stephanie, and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Kaitlyn. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mt. Shasta on Saturday, October 17th at 11:00 A.M. with the Rosary at 10:30 and burial at the Weed Cemetery. A reception will be held at Sons of Italy Hall after the burial.
