Weed High School 2009 Football Hall of Fame inductee Enrico “Henry” Chiodo passed away at age 84. He joined his parents, Guiseppe and Maria; brothers, Ernie and Nick; sister, Dora Cottini, and wife, Beverly in the next life on October 4, 2015.

Enrico was born in Flatbush, New York on January 10, 1931. As a toddler, his family relocated to Weed, California. Enrico attended Weed Elementary School and High School. Enrico excelled in high school track and football winning many awards.

After graduation he joined the US Coast Guard and was assigned to the USCG Taney based in Alameda, California. Next he was assigned to the USCG Ponchartrain. Lastly he was stationed in San Francisco, California, as a Yeoman to the Admiral of the 11th Coast Guard District.

In 1953 he met the love of his life, Beverly Tiedtke; on December 26, 1954 they were married in the Santa Cruz Mission. They settled in San Jose, California where Enrico worked as a butcher. They had two sons, Rick and Jon.

In 1962 they moved out of the hustle and bustle to a bit of country and settled in Carmichael, California.

It was not unusual to see Enrico with fishing equipment loaded into his car, so that he was prepared to stop and fish when the desire struck him. He passed his passion on to his sons as they fished together along the American River and Upper Sacramento River.

He will be forever missed by his family: Rick (and Theresa), Jon (and Lana), and his beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Matt, Kyle and Bryce.

There is much more about Enrico that won’t fit here. Most of all he was a great son, husband, father, brother and friend to all.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 17 at 11 a.m. at William B. Pond Recreation Area, 5700 Arden Way, Carmichael, CA 95608.

Please no flowers. Donations can be made in Enrico’s name to the charity of your choice.
