Three south county high school graduates helped the College of the Siskiyous women’s volleyball team win its league opener Friday night in Weed and stretch its winning streak to 12 straight.

Marielle Schnack and Jill Neel of Weed and Alex Peruzzi of Mount Shasta have all made significant contributions as the Eagles have gotten off to a 15-3 start.

Schnack is ninth in the state and second on the team to Kelsey Loyd in hitting. Neel is 18th in the state with 422 assists. Peruzzi is fourth on the team with 22 service aces.

Schnack had 12 kills in the Eagles’ 3-1 win Friday night over Lassen to finish the week with 196 for the season.

Loyd had 27 kills Friday night and finished the week second in the state with 279.

Neel had 25 assists against Lassen, and Peruzzi had 4 service aces.

As a team, the Eagles are fifth in the state in hitting percentage at .271, third in service aces at 176, eighth in blocks with 128, and 10th in points with 902.

Loyd leads the team with 41 aces, Gisela Martin has 30, Schnack 29, and Brandy Hendershott 2.

Martin leads the team with 138 digs, Alissa Flynn has 110, and Peruzzi 77.

The Eagles are scheduled to play at Shasta in Redding tonight and at home against Redwoods Friday at 4 p.m.
